Our Work & Accomplishments

  1. Have participated in the Peel District School Board student GSA Conference.
  2. Works with Peel Regional Police to maintain open lines of communication with the LGBTQ+ Community.
  3. Provides a link to members of the LGBTQ+ Community to various community resources working throughout Peel Region.
  4.  Annual supporter and participant in the Peel HIV/AIDS Walk.
  5. Worked with various municipalities to achieve recognition for Pride Celebrations in Peel Region, resulting in the annual proclamation of Pride by the City of Brampton (since 2003) the Town of Caledon (since 2011) and the Region of Peel (2012).
  6. Continues to work with the local business community to identify LBGTQ+ positive businesses, services and allies throughout the region.
  7.  Continues to advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ+ Community awareness, equality, tolerance and acceptance for all through involvement with local community events, open communication with local media and members of local government.
  8. In 2016 Peel Pride held a regional vigil to honour the victims and families of the Orlando Pulse Nightclub Shooting. All three Mayors as well as other dignitaries attended in support.
  9. In 2016, for the first time Mississauga flew the rainbow flag.
  10. In 2016, for the first time Caledon flew the rainbow flag.
  11. In 2017, for the first time the Trans flag flew with the rainbow flag in the City of Brampton.
  12. In 2018, Peel District School Board flew the Pride flag at all of their locations in the region.
  13. In 2018 Peel Regional Police and The Region of Peel fly the Pride Flags at their Headquarters.
  14. In 2018 William Osler Brampton Civic Hospital holds its 2nd annual LGBTQ+ Forum for staff and community partners.
  15. In 2018 Peel Regional Police Diversity Committee launches the Safe Place program.
  16. In 2018 Peel Pride announces plans for the future and how Peel Pride will serve the community!
  17. In 2018 Peel Pride celebrates 15 years and The City of Brampton hosts it's first ever Pride in the Square to mark this milestone.
  18. In 2018 The City of Brampton announces it will continue Pride in the Square as an annual event.
  19. In 2019 Peel Paramedics fly the flag in their Mississauga location for the first time.
  20. In 2019 Peel Pride declares the Month of July as Pride Month in Peel.
  21. In 2019, Peel Region provided funding to all three municipalities to install temporary Pride Crosswalks and they were installed and celebrated at the end of Pride month in Peel (July 2019).
